Vehicle Description SALE PENDING For Sale PLEASE READ FIRST I've had a huge amount of interest in this car.
I am sorting through all the inquiries from first to last.
Most are people who are relying on the photos and who want to pay to have the car shipped.
I prefer to sell this car to someone who will COME AND LOOK AT IT.
I cannot stress enough that this car need a COMPREHENSIVE FRAME-OFF RESTORATION with EXTENSIVE METALWORK.
I've had a few write to ask if the car runs.
It doesn't.
While I am obviously interested in selling the car I will dissuade anyone who doesn't seem to grasp the vast amount of work this car will require to restore.
Ask for specific photos and I will send them.
The car is obviously for sale as-is, where-is and I will make no adjustments post-sale.

1960 Chevrolet Impala convertible.
I bought this car a year ago from a friend who said he bought it from the original owner.
It appears to have been reasonably well kept until it was parked out in the weather a number of years ago.
Unfortunately the weather has taken its toll.
I have seen 1960 Impala convertibles worse than this brought back to life.
It could also be parted out as it has many desirable convertible-specific parts.
I have done nothing to this car aside from bring it home to store it until deciding to sell.
I will let the photos speak for themselves.
The VIN tag decodes as follows:
01867A109043 0=1960 18=Impala 8 Cylinder 67=Convertible A=Atlanta, GA (final assembly) 9043rd car built To the best of my ability I have decoded the cowl tag as follows:
STYLE 60-1867=2 dr.
Convertible, 8 cylinder BODY LA 3976 (body shell built in Lansing, MI; Convertible & Sport Coupe only) TRIM A52 or A53; May be 852 or 853, both of which are turquoise w/vinyl seat insert (convertible only) PAINT 936 = Ermine White ACC 2 = black top (?) With that this is a factory-built Ermine White, black stripe, black top, turquoise interior 1960 Impala convertible.
I have what I was told was the original engine, which is a Power Pack 283 (high compression heads, 4-bbl carb, dual exhaust, rated at 230 hp, which was 50 horsepower more than the base 283 engine) and with a Powerglide transmission.
The short block and transmission are still bolted together.
The heads and intake, and carb are off.
I am unsure whether the engine could be saved, as the pistons are very corroded and I'm sure the rings are rusted to the block.
If absolute originality is important a good engine shop might be able to save this block but it will take some effort.
I decoded the engine stamp as follows:
283 engine F929DB F = Flint plant 929 = September 29, 1959 (lines up with the build number early production) DB = '60 230-hp, Powerglide I will also include another 283 long block that I was told came from a running/driving 1965 Impala with under 70k miles.
It decodes as follows:
283 engine T0103GF T = Tonawanda plant 0103 = January 3rd GF = 283 ci / 195 hp base v8, Powerglide This 1960 Impala came equipped with power steering and power brakes.
All things considered it would have been a nice, well-optioned car when new (high-perf PowerPack 283, automatic, power steering and brakes).
Also equipped with the deluxe two-speed wipers with windshield washer.
The convertible top frame and hydraulic cylinders are still installed on the car.
The top frame is rusty but could be saved (or parts saved from it).
Also included is a much nicer convertible top frame from an unknown 1960s vintage GM car.
It was given to me in the hope that it may provide parts to restore this top frame.
I have the seat frames, front and rear.
All upholstery has been removed from the car.
There are many parts missing from the car, such as the door panels and stainless trim.
Again, let the photos answer your questions.
The wheels and tires shown DO NOT CONVEY as they are from another 1960 Impala.
I will install the wheels and tires that came with the car, which are good for rolling the car onto a trailer.
The deck lid is very rusty but one from a four door is the same and is easy to source.
I will also provide a contact for 1960 Chevrolet parts and restoration, if you are interested.
The vehicle was registered in Alabama last year and I have that registration along with a bill of sale.
AL does not title cars this old.
The registration and BoS will be sufficient for you to title the car, if so required.
