TRAINING SPECIALIST
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, GS-09. General Experience (for GS-5 positions):
Experience that provided evidence of the ability to instruct students in the use of equipment, principles, or practices of the subject or occupation. Experience:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience as an Air Force Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) training instructor, serving as subject matter specialist and implementing the use of Instructional Systems Design (ISD) while developing and revising of course materials, measurement devices, and lesson plans, continually using process improvement practices to evaluate methods and techniques used in SERE training curriculum to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of training, developing and preparing a variety of correspondence and other documentation such as formal letters, position papers/research topics, scholarly reports, staff summary packages, briefings. Also includes teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s). Supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. OR EDUCATION:
I have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related, in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of this position. Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in -grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of survival, evasion, resistance, and escape (SERE) requirements, techniques, principles, policies, documentation, and regulations. 2. Skill in conducting and evaluating SERE training inclusive of Code of Conduct (CoCT) training; and Code of Conduct continuation training (CoCCT). 3. Knowledge of AFRC overall and AFRC flying missions, functions and structures at the unit level to ensure effective implementation and oversight of program plans and processes. 4. Knowledge of training methods and techniques, materials, policies, procedures, guidelines and techniques. 5. Ability to gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and provide effective advice and technical guidance. 6. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members; are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency. Retired military that have active AF Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position) on the application.
